Bounce Back Program - Skills to Overcome Depression or Anxiety - For Youth

Provided by Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA)

For youth 13-18 experiencing anxiety and/or mild to moderate depression (PHQ-9 score 21 or lower), community coaches provide telephone delivery of a brief, workbook-based, self-help program to improve mental health.
Bounce Back teaches effective skills to help youth ages 13-18 overcome symptoms of mild to moderate depression or anxiety, and improve their mental health. Participants can learn skills to help combat unhelpful thinking, manage worry and anxiety, and become more active and assertive. Bounce Back offers three forms of help:

  • Telephone Coaching (a customized series of workbooks with 4 to 6 coaching sessions delivered by phone or video conference, in English, French, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Punjabi). Referral required.
  • Online (an independent, self-guided online program with access to video modules, e-books, and worksheets). No referral required. You can choose from 20 different workbooks that include titles such as Understanding Worry and Stress, Overcoming Sleep Problems, Being Assertive, Practical Problem Solving Skills, Changing Extreme and Unhelpful Thinking, Building Relationships With Your Family and Friends and Planning for the Future.
