Emerald Centre - Homeless Shelter - Kamloops Branch

Provided by Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA)

A co-ed emergency shelter that provides accommodation for men, women and children who are homeless.
Emerald Centre consists of Emerald House and Emerald Hostel. Provides 42 shelter beds of round-the-clock emergency shelter with support services. Clients are provided with a clean bed, meals and access to support workers plus a case management team that works closely with them.

Emerald Centre provides harm reduction services for people who use substances to get help and protect our community. The shelter distributes supplies for safe drug use, teach about safe drug use and refer clients to a range of services that enhance the knowledge, resources, and supports for individuals.

Although the Centre will provide emergency shelter to both men and women, two completely separate areas have been created to ensure all are safe. As with the other shelters, Emerald Centre will be a minimum barrier or “damp” shelter. There will be no clean time required before coming in for a bed. However, the Centre will be recovery-friendly. Our focus will remain the same: helping homeless individuals and families find homes and support in the community to help maintain stable housing.
